Once a concrete-framed building, the renovated Genetics Laboratory located at the Smithsonian Institution's National Zoo, brings the outside into scientific workspaces. The design team used a combination of Pilkington Profilit™ channel glass with Lumira® aerogel insulation, metal panels and perforated metal screens on the building's exterior to create the heralded light-filled modern research facility.
