Oklahoma City’s Will Rogers World Airport has recently opened a new east concourse which is home to four new gates along with a customs area for international flights. The expansion project, led jointly by firms HOK and FSB, is meant to bring the “world” back to Will Rogers World Airport by expanding terminal space, improving security, widening concourses and adding retail space to elevate the passenger experience. HOK worked with Timberlake Construction to set up the space with expansive curtain walls, windows, and skylights, which bathe the terminal in pleasant natural lighting. For the curtain walls, the team selected SteelBuilt Curtainwall Infinity™ System from Technical Glass Products. SteelBuilt Curtainwall Infinity System can use almost any type of custom steel member as a back mullion from box, I-beams to T-shapes. The strength of steel allows for larger areas of glass with smaller frame profiles and greater free spans. With all the added natural lighting, wood décor, and updated amenities, the passenger experience at Will Rogers World Airport was upgraded dramatically.
